The Way That Can Stop My Homesickness.

Unlike any immigrant, I didn’t want to move to U.S since I just went after my father, and my mom is still living in Vietnam with her family. Although I have lived in Hawaii for two years, I think that I have never been suitable to live in U.S. If some day I had to pick out to live in Vietnam or U.S, I would choose to go back to my home country where I grow into. However, before I go back to my country, I have to be successful, so I can back anything up to my family. I really miss the Vietnamese food although there are many Vietnamese food here, but they don’t taste like what I tried in Vietnam. Also, the feeling of riding a motorcycle around the streets is amazing. The thing that I miss the most is the feeling of eating with my big family. Besides, I usually call my mom and talk about what I have done so far, and she also share her stories to me. Recently, I knew that my grandparents is gradually weaker, so my uncles, my aunts, and my mom take it in turns to look after my grandparents. I broke down and cried every time I thought about what my big family went through, but I have to keep it from them. Maybe, the feeling I have with my family cannot be replace even though I live in U.S for twenty or fifty years. I hope that I will find a good job that I can work at anywhere, so I can go back to Vietnam and stay there as long as I want.

  1. Thanks for sharing Liem! That must be SO difficult to be in a place where you really feel like you don’t fit in. I have experienced that many times in my life too when I was teaching overseas. Although there were things that I liked about where I was living, it never quite felt like home to me. I bet you miss your mom a lot. I hope that you will spend this time in Hawaii learning and figuring out what you want to do with your life- and hopefully you and your family can be reunited again soon!

  2. I really understand your feeling Lien. I need to confess that sometimes I feel like I don’t feet in Hawaii too. What they call aloha is something very small compare which we have in my country. It Its so big that we don’t have a unique world to discrible. Even though you still look for some job that you like and make enough money, I can affirm that you are in the right path. You are a very smart guy and very dedicate. Those are signs of the winners. Not too long you will able to have a better life and for sure provide a good life for you parents. You mom most be proud of you! Good jog using the phrasal verbs, you killed it!!
